
Summer HGV traffic restrictions in Ukraine
The bans apply to HGVs with a GVW over 24 t and an axle load of over 7 t, with the exception of vehicles carrying dangerous live animals, perishable cargo, dangerous goods.
Additional road signs will be installed on public roads to inform drivers about the restrictions. The bans will be enforced by the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety and the national police.

Tirol extends HGV traffic restrictions – longer tailbacks expected
The measures will be introduced on days following and preceding two upcoming public holidays: Pentacost (Sunday 9 June, Monday 10 June plus the following three days) and Corpus Christi (the whole week including the holiday on 20 June).
The restrictions will apply to southbound lorries crossing the Austrian border on the A93 motorway in the Inn valley. Any lorries over the limit of 300 vehicles per hour will be slowed down or stopped if necessary.

Upcoming changes in HGV traffic bans in the Czech Republic
The Czech Ministry of Transport has issued a press release concerning upcoming public holidays and related driving bans.
The following HGV driving bans will apply during this weekend:
• Friday, 5th July, from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm (the feast Saints Cyril and Methodius)
• Saturday, 6th July, from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm (the anniversary of the death of Jan Hus, d. 1415)
• Sunday, 7th July, from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Other summer driving bans in the country remain unaffected.

France: additional traffic restrictions in Aquitaine during the G7 summit in Biarritz
In connection with this year\’s G7 summit, which will be held in Biarritz on August 24-26, a number of changes affecting road traffic have been planned.
They include the abolition of the general driving ban for vehicles over 7.5 tonnes on Sunday, August 25, from 00:00 to 8:00am, on A63, on the route France-Spain, from the Saint-Geours-de-Maremme junction (A63 / RD824) to Biriatou.
Additional restrictions:
• On Saturday, August 24, an additional summer driving ban on the A63 between Biriatou and the Saint-Geours-de Maremme junction (A63 / RD824) in both directions will be extended until 8:00 pm
• On Monday, August 26, the following types of vehicles are prohibited from driving between 11:00am and 6:00pm: heavy goods vehicles with a DMC of over 19 tonnes and vehicles carrying dangerous goods of class 1 as defined in section 2.2.1 of Annex A, Part I of the ADR (EXPLOSIVE MATERIALS). The ban will apply on the following routes:
– On the A63 motorway, between Biriatou and the Saint-Geours-de-Maremme junction (A63 / RD824) in both traffic directions.
– on the RN134, from the southern exit of the Urdos agglomeration (PR109 + 389) at the intersection of Forges de Abel (PR115 + 457) and in RN1134 from the Forges de Abel junction (PR116 + 000) in the Somport tunnel (PR119 + 920), in both directions
• On Monday, August 26, the movement of vehicles transporting dangerous goods or special loads is also prohibited on the following routes:
– on the A63 motorway, between Biriatou and the Saint-Geours-de-Maremme junction (A63 / RD824) in both traffic directions.
– on RN134, from the southern exit from the Urdos agglomeration (PR109 + 389) at the intersection of Forges de Abel (PR115 + 457) and in RN1134 from the Forges de Abel junction (PR116 + 000) in the Somport tunnel (PR119 + 920), in both directions.
– on RD934, between Pourtalet (PR58 + 460) and node RD934 / RD431 (PR48 + 690) in the town of Laruns, in both directions.

Germany: new regulation on the use of winter tyres in lorries and buses from 2020
From 1st July 2020, snow tyres must be fitted not only on driving axles but also on steering axles.
The new regulation applies to buses of category M2 and M3 and lorries of categories N2 and N3.

Germany: the bridge on the Rhine in Krefeld closed to HGVs
The closure applies to vehicles with a mass over 7.5 tonnes and comes into effect on Friday, 13 September, at 5:00 pm.
The closure is due to recently detected serious damage in the concrete deck slabs on the underside of the bridge. A renovation concept is to be ready by the middle of October.

Belgium: parking ban in the Barchon rest area
In view of the serious problem of illegal immigrants trying to sneak on board parked trucks at night as stowaways, the governor of the Liège province has imposed a parking ban on vehicles over 3.5 t in the Barchon rest area on the E40 motorway in the direction of Brussels. The ban is in effect between 8:00 pm and 7:00 am in the period from 23rd October to 7th November. The rest area can be used by other vehicles during the night.

France – road blockades in the north of the country and along the border with Belgium
French road transport associations OTRE and FNTR have announced strikes to exert pressure on the French government, who has recently adopted a series of economic measures including an increase in the price of Diesel fuel.
The demonstration, scheduled to take place this Thursday (28 Nov), will involve a slow roll protest along all lanes of the A2 motorway in the direction of Lille. Another slow roll protest will be organised on the A1 motorway on 5th December, also in the direction of Lille.
As announced, the protests will also be held on the French-Belgian border in Ghyvelde. In the days to come trade unionists may also organise demonstrations at all motorway service areas across the country in protest against the government’s decision to cut the amount of excise tax that French hauliers are allowed to deduct.

Italy – carriage of dangerous goods prohibited on A4
Autostrade per l \’Italia has announced that from December 10, 2019 to May 31, 2021 industrial vehicles carrying dangerous goods will not be able to travel along the motorway connecting Sesto San Giovanni with Milano Viale Certosa towards Turin.
In connection with the construction of the fourth lane on the motorway, from Tuesday, 10th December, vehicles with a maximum authorised mass exceeding 3.5 tonnes carrying ADR loads will not be able to use the A4 motorway section between Sesto San Giovanni and Milano Viale Certosa towards Turin . The ban will apply daily from 6.00 am to 8.00 pm until May 31, 2021. However, it may be extended.
For those coming from Venice and heading for Turin, the recommended detour runs along the eastern bypass road A51 and then along the A50.
Alternatively, vehicles traveling on the A4 from Venice can take the A52 and follow road 35, then road 46 towards Bollate.
