This year, the federal states have also lifted the driving ban on Sundays and public holidays in accordance with Section 30 (3) of the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) by means of general exemption orders for all Easter holidays, so that there is no driving ban for the entire period from Maundy Thursday to Easter Monday inclusive.
The general exemption generally covers all transports as well as empty runs. Due to further lockdown extensions, the federal states have also extended their general exemptions until April 05, 2021 (Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Baden-Württemberg, Schleswig-Holstein, Brandenburg, Hesse, Berlin and Rhineland-Palatinate until June 30, 2021). COVID-19 testing will be mandatory for all drivers of commercial vehicles entering the UK from the EU. Drivers without a negative test result can be fined with up to £ 2,000.
COVID-19 testing and a locator form will be required from all drivers of commercial vehicles entering from the EU.
The requirement does not apply to drivers staying in England for up to 48 hours.
The testing requirement applies to drivers and crews of HGVs as well as drivers of vans and other LGVs. It applies to both UK-based and non-UK based carriers.
Free tests will be available at 40 haulier advice site locations. As the UK Minister of Transport announced on Sunday, tests must be carried out within 48 hours of arrival, with the day of arrival treated as day 0. If a driver stays in the UK, they will have to take further tests every 72 hours. The second test should be taken 3 days after the first test, and the third test – 3 days after the second test. Within 10 days or more, a driver has to take at least 3 tests.
Exemption from the testing requirement
You do not need to take a test if you arrive in England from Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man – known as the Common Travel Area (CTA). You must have only been in the CTA or the UK in the 10 days before arrival. If you have been outside the CTA in the 10 days before you arrive in England, you must take the tests.

The form can be submitted any time in the 48 hours before arriving in the UK and presented during the check-in before boarding a plane, train or ferry to the UK. After completing the form, you will receive an email with a QR code. You can print it or show it on your phone.

From Sunday, March 28, Slovakia, Austrian Tyrol and the Czech Republic are no longer designated as areas of variant of concern, which means that drivers coming from these countries are no longer required to carry a negative result of a Covid-19 test.
Germany classifies countries into three groups: high incidence areas, risk areas and areas of variant of concern. Depending on the designation, there are different requirements for HGV drivers, which are presented below.
Slovakia and the Czech Republic have been designated as high incidence areas. As a result, from Sunday, drivers coming from these countries will have to meet the same requirements as those coming from Poland. In contrast, Austrian Tyrol, has been designated as a risk area and drivers arriving from that region do not need to register or carry a negative test result.
1. High incidence areas
Drivers who within 10 days before entering Germany have visited a “high frequency area” (❗i.e. Poland) are required to:
❌Countries: Bulgaria, France, including all overseas departments, Latvia, Malta, Montenegro, Poland, Sweden, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Cyprus.
❎ for destinations in Germany*: register before entering. The digital form is available in many languages..
❎ present a negative result of a COVID-19 test: drivers are exempt from the test requirement as long as they have spent only 72 hours in a high-incidence area or they are going to stay in Germany for only 72 hours.
* ❗ People who commute to work every day, i.e. those who stay abroad for less than 24 hours or enter Germany for a period of up to 24 hours, are exempt from the obligation to register.
2. Risk areas
❌ Countries: countries not included in the previous groups.
Drivers who were in the “risk zone” 10 days before entering Germany
❎ drivers going to destinations in Germany are not required to register before entering the country.
❎ a negative test result is not required.
❎Transit: No registration or negative test required.
3. Areas of variants of concern
❌ Countries: France – Moselle department
Drivers who within 10 days before entering Germany have visited a “area of variant of concern”
❎ for destinations in Germany: register before entering. The digital form is available in many languages.
❎ are required to carry a negative result of a COVID-19 test
There are no exceptions to the above requirement for those who within the last 10 days have come from or stayed in areas where new virus variants have appeared. People who are professionally involved in transporting people or goods across borders by road, rail, ship or plane are therefore obliged to undergo a test and present a negative test result upon entry.

Aufgrund eines am 28. April erlassenen Dekrets hat die französische Generaldirektion für Infrastruktur an bestimmten Tagen im Mai unter bestimmten Bedingungen Fahrverbote für Lkw über 7,5 Tonnen ausgesetzt.
✅ Das Fahrverbot wird für alle Arten von Fahrzeugen aufgehoben, die Waren transportieren, die nach dem Entladen am Freitag, den 30. April, bis 00:00 Uhr leer zurückkehren. In Bezug auf Lieferungen aller Waren, die vor dem Inkrafttreten des Fahrverbots begonnen wurden und die im leerem Zustand zu ihrer Basis zurückkehren, werden die Fahrverbote am 1. und 8. Mai aufgehoben.

Leere Fahrten dieser Fahrzeuge nach dem Entladen sind bis Mitternacht am Sunaday, dem 8. Mai, zulässig.

Auf der italienischen Brennerautobahn A22 bestehen am 13. und 24. Mai sowie am 03. Juni 2021 von 00:00 Uhr bis 22:00 Uhr auf dem Streckenabschnitt von Sterzing bis zur Brennerstaatsgrenze zusätzliche Fahrverbote für Fahrzeuge mit mehr als 7,5 t hzG für Fahrten in Richtung Norden.
Mit Erlass des Regierungskommissariats der Provinz Bozen vom 05. Mai 2021 wurden am 13. und 24. Mai sowie am 03. Juni 2021 in der Zeit von 00:00 Uhr bis 22:00 Uhr zusätzliche Fahrverbote auf der italienischen Brennerautobahn A22 für Fahrzeuge mit mehr als 7,5 t hzG erlassen.
Die Fahrverbote am 13. und 24. Mai sowie am 03. Juni 2021 betreffen den Streckenabschnitt von Sterzing bis zur Brennerstaatsgrenze für alle Transporte in Richtung Norden.
An diesen Tagen bestehen in Österreich und/oder Deutschland Feiertagsfahrverbote.
Fahrzeuge, die zum Zeitpunkt des Inkrafttretens bereits auf der Brennerautobahn in der Provinz Bozen unterwegs sind, müssen auf dem Parkgelände der Sa.do.bre in Sterzing anhalten.
by Additional HGV restrictions on the A22 Brenner motorway
Additional entry bans for vehicles with a maximum authorized mass of over 7.5 tons will apply on May 13 and 24 and June 3 from 00:00 to 22:00 on the A22 motorway section from Sterzing (It. Vipiteno) to the Austrian border.
The entry ban applies to all north-bound transports because of a holiday driving ban that is in effect in Austria and Germany on these days.
Vehicles travelling along the Brenner motorway in the province of Bolzano when the ban comes into effect must stop at the Sa.do.bre parking lot in Sterzing.

by Additional driving ban in Tyrol
The Austrian Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) has imposed an HGV driving ban on Wednesday, 2nd of June.
The restriction will be in effect from 9 am to 10 pm and will apply to heavy goods vehicles and articulated vehicles with a DMC above 7.5 tons. The ban applies to vehicles bound for Italy on the following routes:
– the A 12 motorway in the Inn valley, from the Kufstein state border to the Imst junction
– the A 13 Brenner motorway, from Innsbruck Süd to the state border
Truckers are advised to avoid the Inntal-Brenner route as much as possible, or to use the appropriate parking lots before entering Austria. HGVs not exempted from the ban will not be allowed to enter Austria and will be turned back. For more information, visit trafficban.com.

Das Bundesministerium für Klimaschutz, Umwelt, Energie, Mobilität, Innovation und Technologie hat am Mittwoch, den 2. Juni ein LKW-Fahrverbot erlassen.
An diesem Tag besteht von 10 bis 22 Uhr ein Fahrverbot für Lkw und Sattelkraftfahrzeuge mit einem höchst zulässigen Gesamtgewicht von mehr als 7,5 Tonnen und von Lastkraftwagen mit Anhängern, bei denen die Summe der höchst zulässigen Gesamtgewichte beider Fahrzeuge mehr als 7,5 Tonnen beträgt. Das Verbot in Österreich gilt für Fahrten mit Ziel Italien oder für Ziele, die über Italien erreicht werden sollen. Davon betroffen sind
• die Inntalautobahn A12, von der Staatsgrenze bei Kufstein bis zur Anschlussstelle Imst,
• die Brennerautobahn A13, von der Anschlussstelle Innsbruck Süd bis zur Staatsgrenze.
Die Polizei fordert Fahrer auf, die Inntal-Brennerstrecke großräumig zu umfahren, beziehungsweise vor der Einfahrt nach Österreich geeignete Parkplätze anzufahren, um dort die bestehenden Verbote abzuwarten. Sie weist darauf hin, dass nicht unter die Ausnahmeregelung fallende Lkw an der Einreise nach Österreich gehindert werden und wieder umkehren müssen.
