Slovenia: freight traffic ban on the G1-6 and G1-7

From 1st June, there is a freight traffic ban for vehicles over 7.5 tonnes on the main roads Jelšane – Postojna (G1-6) and Starod – Kozina (G1-7) and some of the main and regional roads in the north-eastern part of Slovenia.

The ban applies to vehicles travelling from Italy to countries like Croatia (the following Croatian counties are excluded: Istarska, Primorsko-Goranska and Ličko-Senjska – summarised in the following table: Istra, Kvarner, Lika, Gorski Kotar), Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Romania, and vice versa.
Transit traffic on those roads is allowed for HGVs over 7.5 tonnes MAM travelling from Italy and heading for destinations (e.g. place of unloading, the seat of the carrier’s company) in Croatia (applies only to the following parts of Croatia: Istra, Kvarner, Lika, G. Kotar) or vice versa, namely whose point of departure (e.g. place of loading, the seat of the carrier’s company) is in Croatia (applies only to the following parts of Croatia: Istra, Kvarner, Lika, G. Kotar) and that are travelling to Italy. The ban does not apply to HGVs that load goods in Slovenia and head for Croatia or to the aforementioned countries and vice versa.
Long-distance transit traffic of HGVs of over 7.5 tonnes MAM from Italy in the direction of Croatia ( the continental part of Croatia), Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Romania and vice versa is diverted to the A1 motorway and the A2 Kozina-Ljubljana-Obrežje motorway, which serves as a safer parallel road connection with better traffic and technical elements.
Further details concerning the ban can be found at http://www.promet.si/portal/en/change-to-the-freight-traffic-arrangement-vehicles-over-75-tonnes-on-the-g1-6-and-g1-7.aspx
