Poland: Holiday traffic bans in force from this Friday
The Minister of Infrastructure has signed an amendment to the Regulation on periodic traffic restrictions and the traffic ban for certain types of vehicles on roads. According to the amendment holiday restrictions on HGV traffic come into force this weekend.
The change is related to the amendment of the Regulation of the Minister of National Education on the organization of the school year, which brought the end of the school year forward to June 19. The early end of the school year coincides with the beginning of a long weekend in connection with the feast of Corpus Christi. During this period, traffic is expected to increase, causing additional threat to road safety. It is a time with a large number of individual trips and organized trips involving children.
Drivers are reminded that periodic traffic bans for vehicles and combinations of vehicles with a MAM exceeding 12 tonnes apply on holiday weekends:
• on Fridays from 6:00 to 10:00 pm,
• Saturdays from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm,
• Sundays from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.
Traffic bans connected with the feast of Corpus Christi are in force June 19 (Wednesday) from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm and on June 20, from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.
