Delays at the Polish-Ukrainian border due to border controls and the strike of Polish hauliers
In order to combat people smuggling and limit illegal migration, Poland and Germany have been controlling trans-border traffic with some countries, which result in delays for those wishing to cross the border. The situation at the Polish-Ukrainian border is made worse by the strike of Polish hauliers, who have been blocking the crossing points at Dorohusk, Korczowa and Hrebenne since November 6. Only passenger cars, buses, and lorries transporting live animals, humanitarian and military aid are allowed to pass through. Polish hauliers are protesting against unfair competition from Ukrainian transport companies after the liberalization of international transport between Ukraine and the EU countries. From next Monday, November 20, a blockade will also be held at the border crossing in Medyka.
