Italy: additional HGV bans on the Brenner motorway
By virtue of a decree of the Government Commissariat for the Province of Bolzano issued on October 11, on 26th of October, from 00:00 to 22:00 vehicles with a MAM of more than 7.5 tons will not be allowed to travel along the northbound section of the Italian A22 Brenner motorway from Sterzing to the state border.
26th of October is also the Austrian National Day, which means that HGVs are not allowed to travel in Austria on that day.
The ban does not apply to:
a.vehicles used for the following purposes:
• transport of cattle,
• transport of perishable food,
• delivery of drinks to excursion areas,
• urgent repairs of cooling systems,
• towing services and roadside assistance,
• vehicles and vehicle combinations used by road cleaning services or in emergency situations for road maintenance;
• emergency vehicles,
• garbage collection vehicles,
• vehicles used to carry passengers in regular scheduled traffic,
• urgent journeys made by armed forces and agricultural machinery;
b. journeys in combined road-rail transport, which have to be confirmed by a reservation containing the vehicle’s registration number or the date and time of the reserved train service.
