The Netherlands will close a section of the A2 motorway. Drivers should expect detours
Drivers using the A2 motorway in the south of the Netherlands should prepare for night-time disruptions. In mid-March, the section between the Urmond and Born interchanges in the direction of Eindhoven will be closed, and traffic will be diverted.
Drivers travelling on the A2 motorway in southern Netherlands should expect disruptions in mid-March. The Dutch road authority Rijkswaterstaat has announced night closures of the section between the Urmond (48) and Born (47) interchanges towards Eindhoven.
The motorway section will be completely closed on the following dates:
❌ 16 March 2026 (Monday) from 21:00 to 17 March 05:00
❌ 17 March 2026 (Tuesday) from 21:00 to 18 March 05:00
❌ 18 March 2026 (Wednesday) from 21:00 to 19 March 05:00
The closures apply to traffic heading towards Eindhoven. During the closures, traffic will be diverted as follows:
◾ exit the A2 at the Urmond interchange (48)
◾ follow roads N294 – N276 – N297
◾ rejoin the A2 at the Born interchange (47)
Maintenance work will be carried out during the night closures. This includes asphalt repairs, repairs to traffic monitoring detection loops, repairs to damaged safety barriers and the installation of poles for traffic management systems.
The works are part of a larger project to upgrade the A2 motorway between the Het Vonderen and Kerensheide interchanges. The project includes widening the motorway to three lanes in each direction and improving traffic flow on one of the key transport corridors in the southern Netherlands.
