Lorries banned from using alternative routes in Bavaria during HGV traffic restrictions in Tyrol
HGV traffic restrictions the border crossing in Kufstein (A12) between Bavaria and Tyrol regularly cause significant traffic jams on the German side, and consequently result in higher traffic intensity on alternative routes in Bavaria.
Currently road signs along the A8 and A93 motorways warn lorry drivers that vehicles with a MAM of more than 7.5 tons are not allowed to use other roads in order to avoid traffic jams on the motorways caused by the limiting of the number of lorries allowed to cross the border per hour.
On these days, traffic control authorities in the districts of Miesbach, Rosenheim, Traunstein and Berchtesgadener Land ban lorries in cross-border traffic from leaving the motorway.
The ban applies to the following roads:
District of Miesbach
-the Holzkirchen junction, the Weyarn junction, the Irschenberg junction
-B307, B318, B472
-ST2010, ST2073, ST2077
-MB20, MB1
District of Rosenheim
-the Rosenheim-Ost junction, the Bad Aibling juntion, the Reischenhart junction, the Frasdorf junction, the Rohrdorf junction, the Achenmühle junction
-ST2363, ST2089, ST2010, ST2093, ST2359
-RO5
District of Traunstein
-the Übersee junction, the Grabenstätt junction, the Bergen junction, the Siegsdorf-West junction, the Traunstein/Siegsdorf junction
-B305, B307
-St 2364, St 2098
-District of Berchtesgadener Land
-the Bad Reichenhall junction
-B20
Exceptions:
Vehicles that have to make scheduled stops in the above mentioned dsitricts are allowed to leave the motorway under certain conditions. However, they have to return to the motorway immediately after the stop has finished. Acceptable reasons for scheduled stops:
• delivery or collection of goods,
• return of the lorry to its operational centre,
• a change of drivers,
• the need to take an obligatory rest break
• the journey to the driver’s place of residence,
• refueling or repairs.
