With SS16 impassable and rail traffic suspended, transport is being diverted via the A1, increasing transit times and putting additional pressure on alternative routes.<\/div>\n<\/h1>\n<p style=\"font-size:1.1rem\">In the Petacciato area (Molise), a large landslide has reactivated, paralysing one of Italy\u2019s main transport corridors. Sections of the A14 Bologna\u2013Taranto motorway have been closed in both directions, while the local alternative, the SS16 Adriatica road, remains impassable. Traffic has been redirected to long detours, and disruptions may last for weeks.<\/p>\n<p><b> Closures apply:<\/b><br \/>\n\u2013 between Poggio Imperiale and Vasto Sud towards Bologna,<br \/>\n\u2013 between Vasto Sud and Termoli towards Bari.<br \/>\nThe reason is the activation of a monitoring system on the landslide front and urgent technical inspections of the infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p><b>For heavy transport, this means a complete bypass of the Adriatic section. The designated detour is: <\/b><br \/>\nVasto Sud \u2192 SS650 Trignina \u2192 Isernia \u2192 SS85 \u2192 Venafro \u2192 Caianello \u2192 A1 (Milan\u2013Naples) \u2192 A30 \u2192 A16 \u2192 Bari.<\/p>\n<p><b>Northbound traffic follows the same route in reverse. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>For long-haul transport, a full shift to the A1\u2013A30\u2013A16 corridor is recommended, bypassing the Adriatic coast entirely. <\/b><br \/>\nDisruptions are not limited to road transport. Rail traffic has been suspended on the Vasto San Salvo \u2013 Termoli section, including freight services on the north\u2013south axis (Bari \u2013 Pescara \u2013 Bologna \u2013 Milan). Trains are being rerouted via Foggia \u2013 Caserta \u2013 Rome, extending transit times and further reducing corridor capacity.<\/p>\n<p>In practice, this results in a cumulative impact: A14 closed, SS16 impassable, and rail capacity limited. The effect is increasing pressure on alternative routes and a growing risk of delivery delays to southern Italy.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian Civil Protection warns that clearing the landslide may take weeks or even months.
