{"id":19558,"date":"2023-08-12T00:00:51","date_gmt":"2023-08-12T00:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.1613.html"},"modified":"2023-08-12T00:00:51","modified_gmt":"2023-08-12T00:00:51","slug":"quiet-zone-to-be-trialled-on-a20-in-kent-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/avicegroup.com\/de\/quiet-zone-to-be-trialled-on-a20-in-kent-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Quiet zone\u2019 to be trialled on A20 in Kent"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"ui header\">\n<div class=\"sub header\">National Highways is to trial a \u2018quiet zone\u2019 on the A20 near Aycliffe in Kent in a bid to reduce noise pollution when the A20 TAP is holding cross channel freight heading to the Port of Dover.<\/div>\n<\/h1>\n<p style=\"font-size:1.1rem\">The \u2018quiet zone\u2019 will run along a 1.3km stretch of the coastbound A20 leading up to the Port of Dover from the Courtwood interchange to Western Heights roundabout. HGV drivers will be informed that they should not use their horns between <b>11:30pm and 7am.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>From the end of this week signs will be in place along the A20 to inform drivers of the \u2018quiet zone\u2019. National Highways will also be sharing the news with haulage groups and ferry operators, as well as working with Kent police to provide additional visibility and where necessary enforcement. <b>Any HGVs not complying with the signage risk a fine of \u00a360.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trafficban.com\/news.1600.en.html\">The Operation Brock contraflow system is currently also in place on the M20<\/a> in Kent ahead of the summer holidays and expected high passenger numbers. All HGVs heading for the Port of Dover or Eurotunnel must follow the signs to join Operation Brock at M20 junction 8.\u202f\u202f\u202f<\/p>\n<p>Any EU-bound HGVs not complying with signage and trying to use another route to Eurotunnel or the Port of Dover risk a fine of \u00a3300. They will also be sent to the back of the queue by Police or enforcement agents, wasting time, fuel, and money.
