
Sweden introduces temporary derogations from driving and rest times
The derogations are in force from 1st of February to 3rd of March and apply to all drivers involved in the transport of goods and passengers, regardless of nationality.
The relaxations of the enforcement of driving and rest times are motivated by the exceptional circumstances of the ongoing epidemic, but may only be used on the condition that it does have a negative impact on drivers’ working conditions and road safety.
The following relaxations from Art. 6 and 8 of Regulation (EC) No. 561/2006 have been permitted:
– the maximum daily driving limit of 9 hours may be increased to 11 hours;
– the maximum weekly driving limit of 56 hours may be increased to 60 hours;
– the maximum fortnightly driving limit of 90 hours may be increased to 120 hours
– the regular daily rest period of 11 hours may be reduced to 9 hours;
– the shortening of the regular weekly rest period does not require compensatory rest.
Derogations from Art. 7 of Regulation (EC) No. 561/2006 are not allowed!
