Spain: New restrictions for trucks in the Barcelona area following the closure of the AP-7
Due to the closure of a southbound section of the AP-7 motorway, the Diputació de Barcelona has introduced temporary restrictions on heavy goods vehicle traffic on selected local roads in the Martorell and Gelida area.
On 22 January, the Diputació de Barcelona implemented new restrictions on heavy vehicle traffic on local roads in connection with the closure of the southbound section of the AP-7 motorway between Martorell and Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. Restrictions for truck traffic were introduced on road BV-2433 (Martorell – Castellví de Rosanes, direction Martorell → Gelida) and on road C-243b (Gelida – Prologis logistics centre, from km 8+200 to km 17+000 in both directions). In addition, staff from the authority have been deployed at intersections to inform drivers about the changes.
The aim of these measures is to minimise the impact of the AP-7 closure and to prevent congestion on the local road network, which may occur due to insufficient space for passing between heavy vehicles and light vehicles, or between two heavy vehicles. The new measures complement a previously announced decision to temporarily lift the restriction on southbound heavy vehicle traffic on road BV-2249 (km 1+000–7+000, Gelida – Masquefa, via Sant Llorenç d’Hortons).
