Hungary – a change in the HGV driving ban
At the request of the Hungarian road carrier association MKFE, the country’s minister of transport has temporarily suspended the HGV driving ban during the upcoming long weekend.
Under current regulations, HGVs would normally not be allowed to drive from 22:00 on Saturday, October 30, to 22:00 on Monday, November 1. As Daylight Saving Time also ends during the upcoming weekend, drivers would have to wait at parking lots and rest areas for more than two days before they could continue their journeys.
For this reason, from October 30 to November 1, the Minister has establsihed so-called time window to enable the movement of HGVs with a MAM above 7.5t on national roads:
◾ from 22:00 on Saturday (October 30) to 06:00 on Sunday (October 31) and
◾ from 22:00 on Sunday to 6:00 on Monday (November 1).
This relaxation applies to domestic and international drivers.
The HGV driving ban is in effect:
on October 31, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m
on November 1, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
