
France: additional driving bans in winter and summer months
In 2025, the general driving for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of over 7.5 tonnes in France, which applies from 10:00 PM on Saturdays and the day before public holidays to 10:00 PM on Sundays and public holidays, will be extended during the winter and summer months.
Driving bans in the summer
⭕The ban applies to vehicles with a GVW of over 7.5 t, ecept for special vehicles and agricultural machinery and vehicles.
⭕It is in effect on the entire road network from 07:00 AM to 7:00 PM on the following Saturdays:
❌July: 5, 12, 19, 26
❌August: 2, 16, 23
⭕Exceptions on certain days and for specific regions
◾ Saturday, July 5, the driving ban does not apply in the following regions:
– Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Grand Est, except for the A6 and A31 motorways towards Lyon and Beaune respectively, which remain closed to these vehicles.
– Hauts-de-France, except for the A1 and A16 motorways towards Paris, which remain closed to these vehicles starting from their connection with the A29 motorway (southern connection with the A16 motorway).
◾Saturday, August 23, the driving does not apply in the regions:
– Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Grand Est, except for the A6 and A31 motorways towards Paris and the border with Luxembourg, respectively, which remain closed to these vehicles.
– Hauts-de-France, except for the A1 and A16 motorways in towards Lille and the border with Belgium, respectively), which remain closed to these vehicles until the point where they join the A29 motorway (southern connection with the A16 motorway).

⭕ The ban applies to vehicles with a GVW of over 7.5 t, ecept for special vehicles and agricultural machinery and vehicles.
⭕It in in effect on some roads in the Rhône-Alpes region from 07:00 AM to 6:00 PM and from 10:00 PM to 12:00 PM on the following Saturdays:
❌February: 8, 15, 22
❌March: 1, 8
❗Note: Vehicles affected by the ban are allowed to drive on the Saturdays listed above between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
