D2 Bratislava – traffic disruptions on 27 February and 1 March
The modernization project of the D2 motorway in the Bratislava area is entering a new phase. In the coming days, road workers will begin reconstruction works on the central reservation, which will involve temporary night-time closures of the route.
As part of the next stage of the investment, four gantries above the motorway will be dismantled, road lighting will be upgraded, and new structures for variable message signs will be installed. To ensure the safety of both drivers and workers, a full closure of the motorway in both directions is required. To minimize the impact on transport operations, the works are scheduled exclusively during night hours over the weekend. Restrictions will apply to the section between the Sitina tunnel and the Bory interchange.
Night-time traffic closures are scheduled for two dates:
❌ 27 February (Friday), from 22:00 until the morning hours of 28 February (Saturday),
❌ 28 February (Saturday), from 22:00 until the morning hours of 1 March (Sunday).
Detours
➡️ Towards Brno:
Drivers will be able to exit the motorway after the Sitina tunnel, near the petrol station, and then take Lamačská cesta towards Záhorská Bystrica.
➡️ Towards Bratislava:
Exit will be possible at the Lamač (Diamant) interchange. The detour will lead through the Lamač district, with re-entry to the D2 possible via Patrónka, near the zoo.
The D2 is a key transit corridor connecting Slovakia with the Czech Republic and Austria. Night closures may result in longer travel times, local congestion on detour routes, and delays in just-in-time deliveries.
