A map for hauliers returning from Russia to Romania without crossing Ukraine

The Romanian association UNTRR has appealed to assistance to enable lorry drivers return home because the Ukrainians only allow refugees to cross the border.

The National Road Transport Union of Romania (UNTRR) is grateful to the authorities of Belarus, Turkey and Georgia for allowing Romanian lorry drivers to return from Russia through their territories even if they do not have necessary transit permits.

At the same time, the Association of Belarusian Carriers has confirmed that from 25 February to 11 March Romanian road drivers can pass through Belarus without a Russian transit authorization. Romanian hauliers can use any border crossing between Belarus and the EU, including those with Poland.

Since 25 February persons who are leaving Ukraine directly or through border crossings with the Republic of Moldova and are seek refuge or want to cross Romania to another country have not been required to present a Romanian visa. This relaxation also applies to Ukrainian and Turkish drivers
Lorries returning to Romania without crossing Ukraine are advised to travel through Latvia via the Terehova – Buracki border crossing. The border crossing at Porubne – Siret, is mainly used by refugees fleeing their country, and lorries of Romanian hauliers can only cross it after daily interventions by the Romanian authorities.
