Spain to introduce fines for taking the weekly rest in the cabin
Spain has also responded to the ruling of the European Court of Justice of 20 December 2017, which states that drivers may not take their regular weekly rest in the vehicle cabin.
Fenadismer, Federation of Transport Organisations in the Madrid Region, has confirmed that the Ministry of Infrastructure is working on amending the regulation which will introduce a ban on spending the regular 45-hour weekly rest in the cabin.
At the moment the amount of the fine is not known. The ban is expected to come into effect from 1 July 2018.
