Fines for taking weekly 45-hour rest in the cab in another country
Fines are imposed if the driver cannot prove that he took his weekly rest in a place other than his cab.
So far penalties have been issued for violations that were recorded in “the act”, or for offences committed in the country concerned.
The Dutch organization Transport in Nood reports that recently there have also been cases of drivers fined for having taken the weekly rest in the cab in another country.
If you do not spend the weekend rest at home, make sure that it can be demonstrated that the rest is not spent in the cab, for example with the bill of the guest house or hotel. If you rest in a foreign country at your acquaintances or friends, then take a photo with location (GPS stamp) or something similar.
