Spain – changes in HGV traffic bans
A new regulation of 21st January has introduced a number of changes compared to the previous year, including some restrictions associated with local holidays.
The most important changes in 2019:
– in the case of obligatory diversions via toll roads (AP-XX) that run parallel to some national roads (AP-68 / N-232 in Rioja, AP-7 / N-340 in Castellón and A-7 / N-340 in Castellón), the new regulation extends the possibility of leaving the toll roads and using national roads. This derogation can be used to enable drivers to take their weekly and daily rest period, obligatory rest breaks of up to 45 minutes (a novelty in 2019), or to make repairs or perform maintenance-related activities (e.g. refueling)
