Green pass – what about drivers from Poland? Italian ministry explained
From today, October 15 this year. all employees of the Italian public and private sector must present a “Green Pass” (COVID certified) to gain access to jobs.
From October 15th all workers in the Italian public and private sector will have to present a COVID ”green pass” certificate in order to get to their places of work.
The requirement also applies to HGV drivers. According to the International Road Transport Union (IRU), new “green pass” rules will impact international truck drivers.
The Green Pass, which is essentially the same as EU Digital COVID Certificate (UCC), can be obtained by anyone who:
– has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine (EU countries decide whether they require full vaccination or only one dose; Poland requires full vaccination, Italy only one dose at least 15 days before issuing the document),
– have received a negative result of an antigen or PCR test,
– have recovered from COVID-19 (UCC will be valid from day 11 to day 180 after a positive test result).
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility published clarifications regarding application of the new rule that will enter into force on 15 October 2021 and is to be valid until December 31 this year.
With regard to road hauliers coming from abroad who are not in possession of a Covid Green Certificate (or other certificate recognised as equivalent), it is specified that drivers will only be authorised to access designated loading and unloading places, providing that unloading operations are carried out by other personnel.
