New restrictions in France – transport excluded
The new entry rules for people traveling from the UK come into effect from 0:00 on Saturday 18 December.
If you are traveling from the UK to or via France, you will need to:
– present a negative (PCR or antigen) test result not older than 24 hours and
– have a compelling reason for travelling, which is included on a list prepared by the French authorities. Compelling reasons include, among others: international freight transport; transit of a citizen to his place of permanent residence in an EU country; a 24-hour transit through the international zone of the airport. Those travelleing for tourist and professional purposes not included in the list will not be allowed to enter the country.
❗❗ Road transport is classified as a compelling reason. Professional drivers are exempt from having to undergo tests and quarantine. The previous requirements (sworn statement, certificate) still apply. The documents in English and French can be found in the link below.
You can find the EU certificate HERE
– In addition, the French authorities have announced that travelers from the UK will be obliged to register on a digital platform allowing them, among other things, to state the address for their stay in France. This platform will generate prefectoral orders requiring all non-vaccinated and vaccinated travellers to isolate in their chosen place. This requirement to isolate can be lifted after 48 hours, on condition that a negative PCR or TAG antigen test is proven.
