Luxembourg introduces the 3G rules for HGV drivers
The new regulation has been in effect since January 15 to stop the spread of the coronavirus: the 3G rules requires each worker to be vaccinated against, have recovered from or tested negative before they are allowed to enter the workplace.
✅ The 3G rule does not apply to HGV drivers passing through Luxembourg.
✅ the 3G rule does not apply to HGV drivers of foreign transport companies who arrive in Luxembourg to load / unload goods and then leave the country (there is no time limit, so drivers can spend their daily / weekly rest periods in Luxembourg).
Exceptions:
✅ The 3G rule applies to drivers of foreign transport companies who carry out cabotage operations in Luxembourg. In such cases, foreign transport companies are responsible for their drivers in the same way as transport companies based in Luxembourg.
❗ In short: the “3G” rule does not apply to lorry drivers of foreign transport companies, with the exception of those performing cabotage operations.
IMPORTANT: Because some companies may require third party personnel to observe the “3G” rule on their premises, any transport company that needs to load or unload goods in Luxembourg should find out in advance if such requirements are in place.
