A4 Closed for the Weekend – Germany Installs Weigh-in-Motion System
From July 18 to 21, 2025, drivers will face major disruptions on the German A4 motorway in the direction of Cologne. The section between the Langerwehe and Düren interchanges will be completely closed due to construction work for the installation of a modern automatic truck weight control system (Weigh-in-Motion).
During this period, the A4 motorway toward Cologne will be fully closed between the Langerwehe and Düren junctions. The closure will begin on Friday at 10:00 p.m. and last until Monday at 5:00 a.m. The reason for the closure is the installation of a state-of-the-art Weigh-in-Motion system designed to automatically monitor the weight of heavy goods vehicles.
This investment, carried out by Autobahn GmbH Rheinland, is part of a pilot program aimed at improving the detection of overloaded vehicles on German motorways.
➡️ A wide detour will be in place during the works: drivers should follow the A44 toward Düsseldorf and then take the A61 toward Koblenz, continuing to the Kerpen motorway interchange.
